Before you start cleaning your tub or shower surround, be sure that everything in it has been removed, including soaps, shampoo bottles, brushes, and loofahs. Wipe the surfaces down using a clean cloth, then wring it out to remove any soap scum. This way, you help prevent stains from appearing. It’s best to clean your tub or shower once a week to ensure a clean-looking acrylic tub or shower. 

DO Use the Right Cleaning Solutions 

The majority of multi-purpose cleaners work well for cleaning your acrylic tub or shower. Nevertheless, it’s still a good idea to check the label first to ensure it’s safe for such surfaces. Acrylic-specific products are usually in gel form and require a different application than other cleaners. Non-abrasive soaps and cleaners, such as dishwashing detergent and power bathroom cleaners, are also recommended. 

DON’T Leave Scratches

Acrylic surfaces get scratched easily, so be sure to avoid using scrub pads, brushes, and other abrasive cleaners. Steer clear of cleaners that come in an aerosol can or contain acetone as well. For removing residue and wiping down surfaces, use a chamois or a damp, clean cloth. If you’re using an acrylic gel cleaner, there’s no need to use water — simply rub it in and allow it to dry on the surface. 

DON’T Forget to Seal Your Tub

Sealing your tub is a great way to protect it from damage. However, it’s worth noting that there are sealants to avoid, such as silicone and acrylic latex sealants, as these can cause potential adhesion and shrinkage. This, in turn, may result in leaks. For best results, use an advanced kitchen and bath polymer sealant.
