5 Popular Bathroom Design and Remodeling Myths

July 6, 2023

Remodeling your bathroom can improve its appeal, functionality and comfort. It also allows you to add features that can enhance the safety of your space. However, many people are discouraged from starting a bathroom remodel because of the myths surrounding it. We’re debunking five of them in this post.

1. Bathroom Remodeling Costs a Lot

Updating your bathroom doesn’t have to cost a lot. The amount you need to spend on your project depends on several factors, such as the size of the room and the modifications you wish to make. A large sum might not be necessary for minor changes, such as replacing flooring or adding more storage. Reputable professionals will work with you to design and create a space that fits your budget and needs.

2. It’s More Cost-Effective to DIY Your Project

Often, homeowners attempt to remodel their bathrooms themselves to try to save money. But aside from materials, you need to purchase tools that you will rarely get to use. Without experience or training, it’s easy to make mistakes that can significantly add up to the overall cost of your project. For instance, if you made errors while doing a bath replacement, you will likely need professionals to fix them. Hiring experts who can do the job right the first time is usually more cost-effective in the long run.

3. You Need to Expand Your Bathroom

Even small bathrooms can be chic and functional when designed right. You don’t need to expand your space for it to look elegant. Experienced professionals will carefully assess your bathroom and recommend the best ways to maximize it.

4. Ventilation Is the Least of Your Concern

Proper ventilation is vital to areas prone to areas constantly exposed to moisture, such as bathrooms. Without good circulation, your space can get moldy and stuffy. If possible, add more operable windows to the room or install quality exhaust fans.

5. A Bathroom Remodel Won’t Add Value to Your Home

Even minor upgrades in your bathroom can significantly impact the value of your home. A bathroom remodel is one of the best investments you can make if you’re selling your property in the future. Houses that look attractive and don’t require plenty of repairs or work usually attract more buyers.

Three great projects!

Ken L.
We had three projects just completed in our home. A shower replacement, a bathtub/shower replacement and an oversized bathtub converted to a large shower. Our installer was Matt Collins who did an outstanding job!! He was very skilled in the whole demolition and reconstruction process. We highly recommend Bath Planet and especially Matt Collins for a beautiful bathroom upgrade!!

Great Craftsmanship.

Donna N.
This was the best sales experience I’ve ever had. So very nice. Informative. So many options. I see value in every inch. You cannot beat the value and beauty of this anywhere.

FANTASTIC WORK!!!

Robert M.
Joel David & Jackson did an Excellent professional job of installing New Acrylic Shower with bench & 3 Grab Bars. They lowered the entrance way by 4 inches and opened the doorway by 6 inches, making it much more “user friendly”. Both were very skilled and did an excellent job of high craftsmanship. Installed a new shower head and faucet to complete the job.
